Chen Shaomei 陈少梅(1909-1954)
LANDSCAPES

Born in a scholarly home in Hengshan , Hunan Province. He studied calligraphy and painting with his father at an early age and was deeply influenced by Chinese traditional culture. In 1930, when he was 21, his works participated in the Belgian International Fair and he won the Fine Arts Silver Award. At this time, Chen’s family was in decline, and he had to sell paintings.
His works were praised and appreciated by many masters in China and in Europe. 


At the end of 1953, he returned to Beijing from Tianjin. Unfortunately, he died of cerebral hemorrhage in September of the following year. He was only forty-five years old.


Chen was a master of classical paintings  master of the landscapes
